100 Best Rap Songs of 2009

Putting together a list of the best rap songs of the year is no easy task and a list of 100 songs is damn near impossible! So, before you start beef with me because you totally disagree, I hope you will at least appreciate the effort. I spent hours researching Billboard.com, Amazon, iTunes, music blogs and even looking through our own posts in an attempt to identify and rank songs appropriately. The songs are in no way completely ranked according to personal preference. I do not think “I Gotta Feeling” is necessarily the #2 song of the year, however, popular opinion would probably agree with that position. Several artists made the list multiple times including Jay-Z, Drake, Eminem, Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and more. I also made sure I included artists that produce REAL hiphop – Camp Lo, Skyzoo, Souls of Mischief, Tanya Morgan, A Tribe Called Quest and others are all on the list. Please comment and feel free to add songs that you think should be on the list that aren’t and re-arrange the top 10 or 20.

Without further ado, here is the 100 Best Rap Songs of 2009:

Yeah no 09 was all about drake weezy and young money. The top ten should be swimming in those artists songs. If anyone considers I gotta feeling “rap” I would have to bet they were deaf. I also think forever young should have been in the top ten Jay-z is a genius no way his songs are not in the top 10.

    The Music Distribution Network

Fans of 100BestRapSongs.com & PR Folks,

Thank you for supporting 100bestrapsongs.com over the years. While 100brs will continue to live on, I recently founded a new company called StereoGrid, a music distribution platform enabling artists to distribute music directly to influential music bloggers – think of it as PRNewswire for Promotional Music Releases.

Unlike PRNewsWire [4]StereoGrid is a two-sided platform – both artist and blogger submit music to the platform, we widgetize it, curate all the content and make recommendations on what bloggers should post based on recency, playback data, and aggregate posts across the blogosphere, and finally, track playback, viral spread, and other data once the song is embed on the public internet. StereoGrid is the distribution layer that sits between artist/label/pr and blogger.

File-sharing websites aren’t built with the artist in mind. They aren’t
built with music curation in mind. They aren’t built with smart tracking and
song analytics in mind. We’ve built a platform that does these things in a
simple, yet effective manner, providing artists, labels, PR, and bloggers
with infinitely more value than they’re getting from a Hulkshare, Usershare
    or even a SoundCloud service.

StereoGrid – The Music Distribution Network. Distribute music directly to highly influential music bloggers.

    Announcing StereoGrid

    Artists/Labels/PR:

You can submit music to the StereoGrid Network at the below URL. We’ll
notify you via email if a blog within our network posts your song.

    Direct Upload: http://www.stereogrid.com/uploads

    Music Websites & Bloggers:

Some of our blogger launch partners include: TheCouchSessions.com,
    FeedOffRap.com, BeatsandRants.com, GetRightMusic.com,
100BestRapSongs.com and we’re adding more daily!

It’s currently free to submit music to StereoGrid, and we send you email
alerts if bloggers within our network post your song to their blog. In the
near future, we will be rolling out artist and PR accounts so you can see
detailed data on plays, downloads, and the viral spread of the music that
    you submit to StereoGrid.

    Business Development & Partnership Opportunities:

Please email Andrew@stereogrid.com if you’d like to learn more about
StereoGrid, are interested in partnering, or have general feedback or
questions. We are actively seeking advertisers and media networks who are
interested in working with both StereoGrid and our network of bloggers.

    Thank You,

This is a really bad list…and half the songs aren’t even rap. They belong under dance or pop or R&B, even.

In early 2009, it seemed like Wale was destined for hip-hop superstardom. … long-time Wale fans, with the latter track being the best song on the album. …

    eminem the best rapper ever

lol…Too much commercial garbage! Some on this list are good though, but def need some more underground joints.
