100 Best Rap Songs of 2009

Putting together a list of the best rap songs of the year is no easy task and a list of 100 songs is damn near impossible! So, before you start beef with me because you totally disagree, I hope you will at least appreciate the effort. I spent hours researching Billboard.com, Amazon, iTunes, music blogs and even looking through our own posts in an attempt to identify and rank songs appropriately. The songs are in no way completely ranked according to personal preference. I do not think “I Gotta Feeling” is necessarily the #2 song of the year, however, popular opinion would probably agree with that position. Several artists made the list multiple times including Jay-Z, Drake, Eminem, Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and more. I also made sure I included artists that produce REAL hiphop – Camp Lo, Skyzoo, Souls of Mischief, Tanya Morgan, A Tribe Called Quest and others are all on the list. Please comment and feel free to add songs that you think should be on the list that aren’t and re-arrange the top 10 or 20.

Without further ado, here is the 100 Best Rap Songs of 2009:

trick-z, K-OS ft. Saukrates & Nelly Furtado – I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman. K-OS is underground, they are good but since they are from canada they dont get a lot of credit. Saukrates is also good, and also canadian and doesnt get a lot of credit either.

Yeh, I agree. If I based it all on personal opinion, this list would look pretty different. I think people should post their own tracks in the comments so we can all go out and grab them and check them out! I know I missed some for sure.
